PCIP is a health insurance
plan administered by DHA that provides
discounts on premiums, deductibles and
out-of-pocket maximums based on the applicant's
household income, household size and assets.
For
coverage with effective dates starting May 1,
2011, more people may be eligible for
PCIP. This is because applicants to
PCIP will no longer need to meet additional
criteria outlined in DHA's Certification Form.
Individuals
and sole-propriertors may be eligible for PCIP if
they have been uninsured for at least six months
and have at least one qualifying pre-existing
condition.
PCIP
provides comprehensive health coverage through
DHA, with no waiting period for coverage of
pre-existing conditions. It covers preventive
care, prescription drugs, well-child care,
emergency care, mental health services, childhood
immunizations and more. There is no deductible for
preventive care and prescription drugs, and you
don't need a referral to see a specialist.
