Second Orono Hearing Added - April 5th

Last night, more than 30 people turned out in Portland for the Bureau of Insurance's public comment session on the Anthem 2011 rate increase.  Thanks to those who testified and shared their personal stories!  Check out the media coverage:

Portland Press Herald, Anthem takes heat for proposed rate increases

WMTW Channel 8, Proposed Anthem Rate Hike Angers Policyholders
WGME Channel 13, Dozens speak out against proposed Anthem rate hike

WCSH Channel 6, Policy holders testify on Anthem rate hikes

Fox 23, myfoxmaine.com, Dozens Speak Out Against Proposed Anthem Rate Hike

Telling your story is important.

These clips show the powerful impact public testimony has.  For example, Shelly Mountain testified at the first Orono hearing that she hadn't received notice from Anthem about the proposed increase or the public comment sessions.  Now there will be a second Orono hearing to provide you with another opportunity to testify.  Others have talked about struggling to pay for medical care as small business owners, single parents, and patients living with chronic illness.  The theme has been consistent:  for many, if another increase is approved, they will be forced to drop their coverage.

Please consider attending these sessions in person:

Tuesday, April 5, 2011, Orono, 5-7pm

102 Murray Hall, University of Maine

 Monday, April 11, 2011, Gardiner, 4-6pm

Androscoggin Room, Bureau of Insurance, 76 Northern Ave., Gardiner

*NOTE: Bureau of Insurance staff will be available starting at 4:30pm to provide training and answer questions.
