3 Things Small
Businesses in Maine Should
Know!
|
1.
DHA has good options for health coverage for your
employees!
DHA just celebrated one of
their busiest months since 2005, bringing 38 new
DirigoChoice small groups on board for the month
of January! Check out their
offerings!
DirigoChoice
coverage is available for small businesses with
under 50 employees, sole proprietors, and
individuals! Subsidies are available
too! For a list of benefits and plans,
please visit here.
The Voucher Program
allows your part-time and
seasonal workers who average between 10-35 hours a
week annually, earn less than $32,490 annually,
live and work in Maine, and who have gone 90 days
without insurance to be covered. The best
part? It only costs the employer 5%
of the monthly premium that they would have paid
out, and it's a great retention tool! Learn
how to enroll in the Voucher Program here.
The Pre-Existing
Condition Insurance Plan covers
uninsured people with 38 pre-existing
conditions. For a list of
eligible conditions and more information, please

2. Small Business
Tax Credits are
Available!
If you have fewer than 25
employees and provide health insurance you may
qualify for a small business tax credit of up
to 35% (up to 25% for non-profits) to offset
the cost of your insurance. For more
information, click here.
3. There's a Free
Webinar THIS
Thursday!
On
February 10th, at 3pm, the U.S.
PIRG Education Fund and Small Business Majority
are offering a free webinar for small business
owners in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions
to help inform you about your rights under the new
health care law.
This
one-hour webinar will focus on what the new health
care law, the Affordable Care Act, means for small
businesses. It will review both federal and state
provisions to help local small business owners
understand how the law will affect them. Topics
being discussed include: small business tax
credits (who's eligible for them and how to claim
them), state insurance exchanges, high-risk pools,
shared responsibility, cost containment, and tools
and resources available for small businesses
interested in learning more about the law. A
question and answer period will follow.
