What is MaineCare?

MaineCare is a health coverage for eligible Maine residents. It pays for prescriptions, doctor’s office visits, hospital services, and more.

Who can get MaineCare?

You have to be in one of the categories or “groups” of Mainers that can get MaineCare. The groups are listed in the menu on the right under “MaineCare and Related Help.” If you fit in one of these groups, you may be able to get MaineCare if your income is under a certain level. Some people, must also have assets under a certain level. Click the group you would be in (on the menu to the right), for more information and to see if you may be able to get MaineCare health coverage or related help.

Don’t fit in any of the MaineCare Groups?

There may be other programs that could help.  Click through the other sections of the Guide for more information.  If you don’t find what you need, or if you have questions about anything in this Guide, please contact us. You can call the HelpLine at 1-800-965-7476 (TTY: 1-877-362-9570) or email us.
