Web Resources for the MaineCare Advocate

Below are some resources that advocates may want to utilize in advocating for themselves or their clients.

Welcome to PrimeCare is a guide published by HealthWorks for MaineCare and Cub Care participants to help them understand how PrimeCare works.

Chapter Five of the MaineCare Assistance Manual, governing Maine PrimeCare is online on the Secretary of State's web site. WARNING: These are administrative rules and some sections may be confusing or even misleading to a lay-person unfamiliar with MaineCare jargon.

The other chapters of the MaineCare Assistance Manual are also online. It contains all the rules that govern the administration of the MaineCare Program (except for eligibility rules). In it you can find detailed explanations of covered services as well as client rights and responsibilities. WARNING: These are administrative rules and some sections may be confusing or even misleading to a lay-person unfamiliar with MaineCare jargon.

The Bureau of Medical Services web site has some useful information on the MaineCare program. Their Frequently Asked Questions page is particularly useful.

Bureau of Family Independence's Division of Policy and Programs also has some useful information about MaineCare services on their web site.

The Bureau of Family Independence posts the MaineCare Eligibility Manual on its web site. This is the manual that DHS caseworkers use to determine applicant's eligibility for MaineCare and Cub Care. WARNING: These are administrative rules and some sections may be confusing or even misleading to a lay-person unfamiliar with MaineCare jargon. If you have questions about any of these resources, you can contact us with your questions.
