How to Use the MaineCare Managed Care HelpLine

The world of managed care can be confusing. If you have MaineCare or Cub Care, you may be in a managed care plan such as Maine PrimeCare.

The HelpLine is run by Consumers for Affordable Health Care Foundation in order to make sure you get the most out of your managed care plan.

The friendly HelpLine staff will answer your questions and help with any concerns you may have about your managed care.

If you have a question or concern about your Maine PrimeCare plan, don't panic! There are a number of resources available to help you:

1. Your first step is to call HealthWorks at 1-800-977-6740 (TDD 1-800-977-6741). HealthWorks is an agency hired by Department of Human Services to help you understand your managed care plan. They can help you to:

  • get answers to your questions
  • choose or change your primary care provider.
  • find a dentist or specialist that accepts MaineCare/Cub Care in your area
  • arrange transportation
  • handle medical bills you think you should not have received
  • file a complaint or request a fair hearing

2. If you have called HealthWorks . . .

  • are still not satisfied
  • do not understand the information you received
  • have any other concerns and don't know where else to turn, call our MaineCare/Cub Care Managed Care HelpLine at:

1-800-965-7476

Friendly and knowledgeable HelpLine advocates will respond to your question or concern directly or refer you to the appropriate agency.
