Workshops on Navigating Maine's Health Care System

NEW - Continuing Education Contact Hours possible for social workers! These workshops meet the criteria to qualify for contact hours. It is the responsibility of the social worker to submit needed paperwork and documentation to the Maine Board of Social Worker Licensure in order to secure these Contact Hours.

In this workshop you will…

  • Learn the "in's and out's" of current MaineCare eligibility for families, seniors, people with disabilities, and "non-categorical" clients.
    • Income and Asset guidelines
    • Household composition 
    • Screening for potential eligibility
    • Assisting with paper and online applications and renewals
    • And more!
  • Review and discuss recent State changes to MaineCare as well as how the federal Affordable Care Act may bring additional changes to in 2014

MaineCare from A to Z

This all-day, workshop offers summaries of updates, upcoming changes and an in-depth look at eligibility rules for several MaineCare categories, including family, senior, non-categorical and people with disabilities categories. Learn how to screen for potential eligibility, how to help clients enroll, appeal and how to trouble-shoot problems regarding these categories of MaineCare. You will practice screening potential MaineCare applicants, using eligibility processes and criteria.

Participants have an hour off for lunch on their own. Time: 9-4

Scholarships to partially or fully cover the cost of registration may be available for non-profit staff/volunteers or individuals unable to afford the registration fee. Send your scholarship request outlining your need to marys@mainecahc.org.

Health Coverage Central

This all-day, workshop offers summaries of changes, updates and overviews of health care coverage, including several MaineCare categories, private insurance, and non-insurance options for Mainers. Learn how changes in state and federal laws are affecting each of these areas, including Affordable Care Act updates. Learn how to screen for potential eligibility, help clients enroll, file appeals and trouble-shoot.  Gain a deeper understanding of effects of recent and upcoming changes to private insurance in Maine and the rights and responsibilities of the insured.

Participants have an hour off for lunch on their own.Time: 9-4
