Consumers for Affordable Health Care (CAHC) is a fast-paced nonprofit organization whose mission is to advocate the right to quality, affordable health care for every Maine person. In 2010, we were designated by the Maine Attorney General and the Superintendent of Insurance as the state’s Consumer Assistance Program as part of the Affordable Care Act. Our Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) runs a toll-free, statewide HelpLine that handles over 7,000 incoming calls per year from people who need assistance finding or using quality, affordable health coverage.

Now Hiring: Consumer Assistance Program Manager
Consumers for Affordable Health Care is seeking a full-time Consumer Assistance Program Manager. The Consumer Assistance Program Manager is responsible for the successful operation of the Consumer Assistance Program, (CAP), including oversight of the three primary components of CAHC’s consumer assistance work;
• the Consumer Assistance Helpline,
• Private Insurance Appeals, and
• Education and Outreach.
The ideal candidate will be an energetic, organized individual with a collaborative management style. They must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities at once, and be able to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

Now Hiring: HelpLine Advocate
Consumers for Affordable Health Care is seeking a full-time HelpLine Advocate to help Maine people find quality, affordable health care coverage and navigate other health coverage related programs.

The ideal candidate will be a compassionate and tireless advocate for consumers. They must be able to understand and navigate complicated health coverage programs, and be able to achieve goals in a fast-paced environment. This position is an opportunity to help people navigate the health system, and get quality health care that they can afford.

Open Enrollment is the time of year you can sign up for health insurance.

Open Enrollment to get insurance for 2018 will start November 1, 2017. It will end December 15, 2017.

If you don't sign up for a health plan by December 15, 2017, you may not be able to get health insurance in 2018. If you don't have insurance, you might have to pay a fine when you file your taxes.
