New Medication Restrictions in Medicaid Concern Advocates for the Mentally Ill

The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Maine is very
concerned about new restrictions on psychiatric medications in the
Medicaid program. They are asking people who have any trouble at all in receiving their prescription to call NAMI at 1-800-464-5767.

If you, or someone you know, is turned away at the pharmacy because there is no prior authorization for the medication or can't continue taking the medication that is working because of the new step therapy rules, NAMI Maine wants to know. NAMI is trying to understand the impact of the new Medicaid rules. You can also email Carol Carothers at clcarothers@gwi.net instead of calling.

When you call, you can speak with anyone who answers the phone. Tell the person answering the phone that you want them to take down information about difficulty accessing medications.

Thank you for your help.
