The Maine Campaign
for Better Care would
like to congratulate the 14 Federally Qualified Health
Centers (FQHC) located in Maine that
were selected to participate in the three
year
FQHC Advanced Primary Care Practice (APCP) demonstration.
As a participant of the demo, each health center will receive
additional technical assistance and training.
The goal of the demo is to improve quality and coordination
of care, and to reduce preventable hospitalizations.
You can find more information about the demonstration

News You Can Use
- According to this Lewiston Sun Journal article, Maine patients will
soon be able to consult with Boston area medical
specialists. It is believed that this will be the first
time that patients will be able to take advantage of this
option without first having to get approval from a doctor
or go through a hospital.
- Here is Maine Today's summary
of an Aging Summit that took place on Tuesday in
Augusta. Close to 150 senior advocates and volunteers
attended the one day conference.
- Is your doctor doing the little things to
ensure you are getting the best possible treatment or
diagnosis? In this article, see how an X-Ray a
doctor neglected to view led to a matter of life or death.
- Check out this blog from our friends at the
Commonwealth Fund about the Congressional "Super
Committee" that is trying to reduce the deficit. The
Maine Campaign for Better Care believes we can achieve cost
savings by better coordination and more transparency as opposed
